Discover the Wakhan Corridor, one of the world’s most remote and stunning destinations, with Ishkashim as your gateway. There are three exciting ways to reach this hidden gem:

  2. Through Tajikistan – a direct cross-border entry into Ishkashim for a smooth journey.

  3. From Uzbekistan via Shirkhan Bandar – an adventurous northern approach.

The duration of your journey can be customized depending on your chosen entry point—Kabul, Kunduz, or Badakhshan. The itinerary is fully flexible, allowing you to extend or shorten your stay at any location, explore at your own pace, and create a truly personalized adventure in this extraordinary region.

Day 1 – Arrival in Kabul

Arrive at Kabul International Airport and check into your hotel. Visit the Ministry of Information and Culture to obtain necessary travel permits. In the evening, take a leisurely walk around the city center to experience the vibrant atmosphere of Kabul.

Day 2 – Exploring Kabul

Discover the capital’s rich history with a visit to the National Museum of Afghanistan. Stroll through the serene Babur’s Gardens and take in panoramic views from Wazir Akbar Khan Hill. End your day exploring colorful local markets and tasting traditional Afghan dishes.

Day 3 – Kabul to Faizabad

Embark on a scenic drive to Faizabad (approx. 12–14 hours) via Salang Pass. Enjoy dramatic mountain landscapes along the way in Parwan, Baghlan, Kunduz, and Takhar Provinces before checking into your hotel or guesthouse upon arrival.

Day 4 – Faizabad to Ishkashim

Complete remaining permit formalities in Faizabad, then continue your journey to Ishkashim (approx. 4–5 hours). Visit the Ishkashim Bazar and browse local craft shops for handmade goods.

Day 5 – Ishkashim to Khandod, Wakhan

Drive to Khandod Wakhan, stopping at the historic Qaziday Fortress for photos and storytelling. Obtain additional permits upon arrival in Khandod. In the evening, enjoy local Wakhi music and hospitality.

Day 6 – Qala Panj to Sarhad

Travel deeper into the Wakhan region towards Sarhad. Visit remote Wakhi villages, meet local artisans, and observe traditional crafts. Optional short hike to nearby viewpoints overlooking the valley.

Day 7 – Sarhad to Chaqmaqtin Lake

Drive through breathtaking Pamir landscapes en route to Chaqmaqtin Lake. Stop along the Panj River for scenic photography. Set up camp or stay in a traditional Kyrgyz yurt.

Day 8 – Rest Day at Chaqmaqtin Lake

Enjoy a peaceful day by the lake. Explore the surroundings, meet Kyrgyz nomads, and learn about their pastoral lifestyle. Optional short trek or lakeside meditation.

Day 9 – Chaqmaqtin Lake to Qala Panj

Depart Chaqmaqtin and return to Qala Panj, stopping at scenic lookouts for photos and rest breaks.

Drive back to Ishkashim, where you can visit local markets and meet traders from both Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
